(Via Nokia Conversation) – Nokia just announced 2 new entertainment-oriented devices at Nokia Connection in Singapore: the Nokia X5-01 and the Nokia X6 8GB.

The most interesting is the Nokia X5 which plugs part of the gap between the Nokia X3 and Nokia X6, but as you can see from the video above, is a pretty unique device. The Nokia X5 features excellent sound quality, dedicated music keys and loud speakers, and will include access to Ovi Music, and to Comes with Music in some regions.

Apple has suffered another embarrassment. A security breach has exposed iPad owners including dozens of CEOs, military officials, and top politicians. They—and every other buyer of the cellular-enabled tablet—could be vulnerable to spam marketing and malicious hacking. The breach, which comes just weeks after an Apple employee lost an iPhone prototype in a bar, exposed the most exclusive email list on the planet, a collection of early-adopter iPad 3G subscribers that includes thousands of A-listers in finance, politics and media, from New York Times Co. CEO Janet Robinson to Diane Sawyer of ABC News to film mogul Harvey Weinstein to Mayor Michael Bloomberg. It even appears that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel’s information was compromised.

It doesn’t stop there. According to the data we were given by the web security group that exploited vulnerabilities on the AT&T network, it seems that 114,000 user accounts have been compromised, although it’s possible that confidential information about every iPad 3G owner in the U.S. has been exposed.

Today, Nokia released the version 1.0 Release Candidate of its unified Qt SDK. This new version also includes the Release Candidate of Qt Creator 2.0.

Aside from bug fixing and various improvements, the biggest news in this announcement is that apps for N900 built with this SDK can be finally published to the Ovi Store.

Would this be the rebirth of a powerful, tweakable, but underestimated device?

For the full change log, you can check out the Qt Labs Blog.

Want to see Froyo (Android 2.2) running on the iPhone? If so, take a look at the ideo below:

Gadgets DNA have the instructions on how to load Froyo onto your handset, but don’t expect the world just yet: neither sound nor WiFi are working at the moment, but youcan send SMS. Which is good, I guess. (via MobileCrunch)

Smokescreen is a new open-source project aimed at converting Flash to JavaScript/HTML5 to run where it previously couldn’t and better interoperate with webpages where it previously could. With Smokescreen you can reach new platforms without learning any new tools; your Flash is automatically converted to JavaScript/HTML5.

Smokescreen will soon be released for free under an open source license. I tested some demos with my iPhone 3GS and, while performances on the iPad seems to render very well, on the iPhone there’s still some work to do. I really look forward to test the tool after the release, so, stay tuned!

While Qt is destined to become the main technology for future Nokia devices, with Nokia focusing his efforts into its recently released Nokia Qt IDE, Carbide C++ still represents in most cases the primary choice for native Symbian development.

Carbide C++ 2.6 has just been released, with the major improvements in the added support for GCCE 4.0 and Symbian^3. Bug fixes include:

  • GCCE4 support requires using a SBSv2 build alias (-c parameter) of armv5_udeb_gcce or armv5_urel_gcce. As of this writing, these aliases were not available in the SDK or SBSv2, but will appear in some future version. Carbide versions prior to 2.6 do not support GCCE4.
  • Users should consult the SDK documentation for GCCE and SBSv2 issues and installation requirements.
  • TRK: If you install the TRK app onto your phone’s flash memory (Mass Storage) a Remote Connection may not find the TRK-service even though TRK is already connected to your PC. Workaround: Uninstall TRK then reinstall it onto your PHONE memory (C-drive). The TRK service should now be “Available”.

The update is available through the standard Software Update mechanism.

Lee Brimelow (Platform Evangelist at Adobe) just published on gotoAndLearn.com couple new video tutorials. One focusing on responding to Raw Touch Data and handle multi-touch:

I just uploaded a new tutorial that explains how to respond and handle raw touch data in Flash Player 10.1. In a previous tutorial I showed how to respond to gestures, but intouch mode you can track all of the touch points on your screen. The 3M display that I am using supports up to 60 touch points, although I have yet to think of an example of how to use them all.

And the second one about AIR for Android (part 1):

I just uploaded the first tutorial in a multi-part series on developing AIR applications for Android. In this first tutorial I explain how to get your development environment setup and how to create and load a simple application onto your device using Flash CS5. Future tutorials will cover topics like using the emulator and performance optimizations.

Enjoy!
