(Via Nokia Conversation) – Nokia just announced 2 new entertainment-oriented devices at Nokia Connection in Singapore: the Nokia X5-01 and the Nokia X6 8GB.
The most interesting is the Nokia X5 which plugs part of the gap between the Nokia X3 and Nokia X6, but as you can see from the video above, is a pretty unique device. The Nokia X5 features excellent sound quality, dedicated music keys and loud speakers, and will include access to Ovi Music, and to Comes with Music in some regions.

Presented yesterday at Intel’s Computex, here’s a first preview of a MeeGo-powered tablet that starts to show which are the capabilities and UI elements of this OS.
The demo showcases two different parts of the User Interface: a standard menu with app icons and, the cool one, a totally customizable sliding menu, with vertical slices independently scrollable. Down to the technical stuff, the tablet will feature a 1.5GHz Moorestown chip and a 10′ display, but the expected release date is no sooner than the first part of 2011. A long sweet wait!
More details are available on Engadget website.
(via MobileCrunch) – Motorola just announced the square-shaped Flipout: Android 2.1 device including a refreshed implementation of Motoblur, which now includes resizable widgets, feed filters, and push corporate email.

The usability guru Dr Jakob Nielsen just published a free 93-page report on iPad usability. In his report he
critiques the most important iPad’s usability failings and points out how Apple should allow more diversity on its platforms including the option for Adobe Flash.
“For once, I’m on the side of Flash,” he says, “because I think Apple is trying to over-rigidly control what’s on its devices. I can understand there are benefits to doing that, but there are also benefits to the diversity of the internet. Diversity is a very powerful mechanism. In the early days of the web, there were many alternatives that were closed services – AOL, CompuServe, Trilogy – but on the web, anybody could put up anything, including a lot of bad stuff. But users vote with their feet, or their clicks: they can click away from bad Flash and click towards good Flash. It’s a shame Apple is so restrictive on what they allow on the iPad and the iPhone. When a customer has bought a device, it’s theirs; they should be able to see the information they want, and run the applications they want.”
Completely agree with him! Read the full article from guardian.co.uk.
The N8 is a powerful combination of internet, video, photos, music, maps with Symbian^3 operating system. With a large capacitive touch screen supporting pinch to zoom, social networking integration, a Carl Zeiss 12 megapixel camera with wide-angle lens and Xenon flash, shooting 720p HD video, On Demand WebTV, HDMI connectivity and USB OTG, you can create, discover and share a world of creativity. Additionally, for the software developers, the device includes Qt 4.6.2, Java MIDP 2.1 and Flash Lite 4.0.
Available late summer 2010, the Nokia N8 should be the first device using the long awaited Symbian^3 operating system. I said “should” because there’re some rumors out there about a Symbian ^3 device to be released soon somewhere in Asia. Can’t wait to finally see AIR mobile running on a Symbian device… maybe we’ll be lucky with the N8?

Nokia E71
The Nokia E series has traditionally been an uninspiring collection of boxy phones, but last year saw a dramatic upturn in its fortunes. The Nokia E51 and E65 took the market by storm — and it wasn’t just businessmen buying them. The E series is beginning to look as attractive as its multimedia N-series siblings.
The Nokia E71 is the Finnish giant’s latest addition to the E series and will be available in July. Pricing is set to be around €350 (around ?280) SIM-free, and it will most likely be free on a monthly contract. But will it be another email knockout?
Design
The E71 is one of Nokia’s most attractive smart phones to date. Many phones with Qwerty keypads lack a certain finesse, but the E71 wouldn’t look out of place in an Aston Martin. Not only does it look good, its attractive metal casing feels very classy and it’s not too heavy or too light.
A 10mm thick profile ensures it fits inside a pocket comfortably, even though it’s wider than your average handset. The screen and Qwerty keypad are well laid-out — a series of shortcut keys below the screen make it easy to access your emails, calendar and contacts. Although the keys are small, they’re very usable, because each is raised, making it easy to distinguish between them. In fact, the E71’s keypad is one of the best Qwerty keypads we’ve ever laid fingers on.
